School of future, an international competition that was held by the Educational Development Fund to design new, smart, and sustainable school prototype in the Upper Egyptian region.
On an area of almost 20,000 sq. meters, HANDASSIA© aimed in this project to create a modern distinguished building which can provide a child friendly , dynamic and creative learning environment and also intended to create a cultural heart of the district which can interact with the community and participate in the events , faires and ceremonies of the entire city.
In order to design a project with such requirements, HANDASSIA designed the school building with open plazas at the endsand the heart of the project which are considered as gathering points of the school and are used for the assembly and eventual ceremonies, these plazas are connected by an educational street which is considered as the spine of the project and surrounded by administration , sports hall and multipurpose buildings which are oriented directly to the main streets and can be easily operated for community events. The school buildings are oriented to the other side arround the main spine and were connected in sequence with the arcaded educational street which leads the student from a stage to the next one.
A clock tower is also located in the central plaza that is located in the center of the main spine, this tower works as a distinguished land mark for the project which carries the national flag, and also works as a public service for the district.
SCHOOL OF FUTURE WAS AWARDED THE DESIGN SHARE AWARD 2005 (USA)
